Novak v. Moa (Thurston County Superior Court)

Obtained defense verdict for speculative mining corporation in three-week trial over oppression and other claims brought by minority shareholders.

Taseda v. Key Bank (Pierce County Superior Court)

Defended foreclosure action for a business wrongfully induced into development loan subsequently canceled by the bank.

Jordanv. Hy-Security Gate Inc. (King County Superior Court)

Prosecuted unpaid wages claim for executive dismissed without cause.  Proved willful violation and obtained six figure judgment on jury verdict.

Projectline, Inc. v Young (King County Superior Court)

Successfully prosecuted to settlement an ex-employee who walked business to a competitor.

Evergreen West Wholesale Lumber, Inc. v England (King County Superior Court)

Obtained judgment dismissing former employer’s claim that employee took clients and business opportunities

All For Kids v. Fox (U.S. Dist. Court for Western Washington and Arbitration)

Successfully prosecuted to settlement the taking of trade secrets by former employees

Cyberphotoarchive LLC v. Vantage Point Direct LLC (King County Superior Court)

Obtained defense verdict for marketing consultants in a trial over product development and business strategy for an internet start-up company.

Real Property 

Johnston v. Wayne Golf Estates LLC  (King County Superior Court)

Brought summary judgment motion for a developer defending against landslide claims that resulted in plaintiffs’ voluntary dismissal of all claims prior to hearing.

Eastmont v. Crickmay (Snohomish County Superior Court)

Successfully prosecuted trespass claim defeating adverse possession by neighbor.

Consumer Protection

Moore v U.S. Engine et al.  (King County District Court)

Obtained jury verdict for defective boat engine plus $25,000 in consumer protection sanctions.  Successfully pierced the corporate veil to impose personal liability and pursued collection through real property liens in bankruptcy

Public Interest

Sharkansky v. King County et al., (Snohomish County Superior Court)

Successfully litigated violations of the Public Records Act (PDA) involving requests by a journalist for voting records from the historic 2004 Gregoire/Rossi election.  Established that over 2½ years the Elections Division failed to disclose records of as many as 31,000 questionably counted votes and approximately 170 illegal votes.  Obtained one of the largest settlements ever paid at the time by King County for PDA violations.

San Juan County v. No New Gas Tax (Thurston County Superior Court)

Defended initiative campaign in trial court against constitutional rights violations and wrongful injunction through abuse of public disclosure laws.  Unanimous Supreme Court ruling upheld trial court arguments on political advertising standard Opinion at 160 Wn.2d 141, 154, 157 P.3d 831 (2007).
